Bozz
Does anyone have a photo of a race starter for the K series? Are they a simple retrofit for the standard starter? What are the advantages / disadvantages of a race starter? Bozz It's not MANGO it's TANGO (McLaren Orange and Black 1.6SS)
F355GTS
Bozz they are now a Bosch part and deppending on your car you may need to 'reshape' your No 4 Primary to get it in Mark
Dave McCulloch
And if you have an SLR 4-2-1 system, it won't fit unless you bought the exhaust after June 2004 - I have a race starter sat at home which I'm returning to CC this saturday as they told me it would fit if I'd bought the exhaust last year - I actually bought it at the end of April 04. Now ordered Brise instead. Dave
Support Team Shaun_E Posted November 24, 2005 Support Team Share Posted November 24, 2005 You probably would need to fettle the block a little as well - its the rear most rib that fouls the adaptor plate and the starter itself. I took an angle grinder and a dremel high speed cutter to the block and also took a bit off the starter itself - the adaptor looks too thin to have any metal removed. The advantages are that it will turn over a high compression engine easily and possibly lessen the battery voltage drop when turning over. It should also be less affected by heat but I can't promise that. Yellow SL #
Rob Walker
There are two versions of the SLR 421 primaries. The one to have is designed for the LHD cars this gives plenty of clearance around the stater motor. The primaries are also a much nicer shape. trouble is unless you are in the know you get the sent the wrong one.
