Who's running K series without sump foam

Readng this with interest as the VX XE wet sump also has the same type of foam fitted.

The foam makes a very good coarse filter when trapped in place by the windage plate. The pickup on the VX has no strainer so I guess the foam is doing that job for it. Any bigger bits falling down get trapped by it.

I know of an XF where a smallish piece of metal got sucked up the feedpipe with no strainer on it - End of oil pump rotation, cam rotation, end of engine.

 

I think the stuff about the foam and its oil management properties or lack of it has been discussed... I can't see on the VX how it would reduce windage much as there's not much of it visible. From memory, the windage plate covers most of it up...
