paul jacobs
Apparently size isn't important, but skill and dedication have much more of an impact. [Although big Vauxhall engines are nicer than "small" Rover ones]. All virgins are welcome here.
Paul Bowden
WOW it does work, so on to the subject, size. I want to buy a 7 in the next months and am worried about size. I am 6'4" and size 11 feet. I am not a fat B***ard, but these 7 aren't big are they. I don't want an SV. Could any one give their experience on size. Ho Ho. There is not a lot of room down by the pedals, how much adjustment is there i.e. seats, pedals etc
Andrew Dent
Fear not, I'm of similar size and have an SLR. I do only drive it using race boots. Done plenty of long distance miles and it is quite comfortable. Andrew
EFA
If you have big feet racing boots are the only way to drive a Seven. Fat Arn The NOW PROVEN R500 Eaterid=red> See the Lotus Seven Club 4 Counties Area Website hereid=green>
andygriffiths
I have race boots, but before this i used to wear Hi Tech squash trainers and they were fine, but you cant beat priper race boots. Andy G GRIFF id=red>

Paul Bowden
Thanks, is adjustment possible for the position of the pedals, which seat type/ Roll bar to go for, or does it make no odds
tony isherwood
Paul Usual advice (if not already taken), Browse Lowflying for a local meet, pop down and try a seven for size. Most sevens will take an Arnie width and Have H length. ;o))

domster
Best bet if buying second hand is to buy a long cockpit car and then fit bench seats... hey presto, maximum roomage! Adjustable seats eat into the space available, espesh if they are fat and foamy.
Peter Carmichael
The standard seats are unsuitable for your height. Race seats are very comfortable if they fit and free up enough room for large drivers. I am 6'2" and have the pedals on the middle setting. There is a lot more room in the footwell for the pedals to go further away. When were the last short cockpit cars produced? The vast majority of the cars you look at will be long cockpit. All new cars are long cockpit. Post '96 de dion cars have a redesigned footbox with more room.
Paul Bowden
Thanks for the replies. I am looking to buy new so long cockpit it is. "Pedals on the Middle setting there's alot more room for the pedals to go further away"? could anyone explain. and finally, standard SL race seats OK? EFA
I think the last short cockpit cars were built around around 1991. DiDions are all long cockpit. Paul Bowden
I am not from Dorchester, I live near Cambridge, does not seem to be a local group for Cambridge. If there are any local Seveners who want a chat and would be happy for me to droll over their Seven please get in touch. Thanks for all the advise.
