AMMO Posted December 10, 2001 Share Posted December 10, 2001 Just recently filled my 5 speed gearbox with oil (Castrol TAF-X). Did it with the top cover off and filled to the level plug. Left the plug in and used a torch to see when the level reached the plug from the inside of the box. Much easier than trying to take the level plug out and fill from the side. The gearbox took 1.6 litres of oil. This morning I noticed that the manual says 1 litre. Have I overfilled? Will the oil blow out or possibly pop seals?
