Andy A
Is it possible to spot a ported Coscast XE head by inspection through exhaust and inlet ports (head still on block, engine has been used). I thought I'd see some pretty obvious machining work under the carbon. What am I looking for? Has anyone got before and after photos? Cheers Andy. oilyhands
The size of the inlet port tunnels should be a giveaway, a properly ported std valved XE head should have 26mm inlet ports or larger. The stock head has 23.5-23.8mm inlet ports tunnels. Oily

Andy A
Thanks for the call Arnie, photos on the way. Oily, not sure what I need to measure, but after the inlet port splits into 2 (tunnels?) the diameter of each is 24mm and the centre rib is 2mm (measured just before the nose radius kicks in). Further down the tunnel, just at the point where the valve stem comes in (in fact - starting parallel with the centre line of the stem) there has been some machining work and it opens out to approx 27ish mms. I dont know if this is standard? Thanks Andy.
oilyhands
That sounds pretty standard to me.. I have some photos of one of the heads I recently did that I can mail you, drop me a mail and I'll send you some. oily
