Play in the inner knuckles may just be the have slackened off..... This only appklies to the steel bodied rack as the knuckles are pinned on the alloy racks. If its steel, undo them and see.

On the alloy racks the bits can be got from Titan Motorsport.

When mine failed on what the MOT thought was the inner knuckle it was only a year old. I phoned Caterham and they said try tightening the rack to pinion meshing adjustment a smidgin. Loosen the big lock nut (36mm?), on the top of the rack above the pinion, tighten the adjuster a tad (wheels off the ground and move it lock to lock to check it's not too tight). Worked for mine and sailed thro at least 4 MOT's since then.

Note only applies to the alloy bodied racks, the steel ones use a shim pack under a metal cover plate, does the same but more involved to adjust.
