CHRIS CLARK
I think most people have 'trouble' with these set ups either:- a) At the sandwich plate leaking or b) The top return outlet union leaking. I have neither of these problems. Tight as a ducks etc etc. No, mine leaks from the main drain/magnetic plug. Dowty washer supplied just leaks v. badly. Have replaced it on temp basis with a straight forward 'O' ring which is better but not yet right! Answers please................... TIA
Rob Walker
Chris, The mag drain plug does not should not require a sealing washer. If you examine the plug it has two concentric ridges on its mating face these should bite into the soft ali boss. However I had a problem with mine the mating face on the boss was not machined at 90 degrees to the drilled and tapped hole. I had to fettle it with a fine file and emery till the mag plug would seat leaving witness marks on the boss showing that it had seated. I also put a smear of Halomar on the plug to make sure. CHRIS CLARK
Thanks Rob. Will check it out. Have found a few manufacturing 'discrepancies' in my tank too! 'Halomar' ? Is that the same as Hylomar but for potential deity persons?
