Noisy Exhaust at 4,500 RPM

Lardy

Recommended Posts

Hello all, this is my first (of many) post. My 02 plate Caterham SV (or is it FB?) Roadsport has developed a very noisy exhaust. This rattle is only heard up or down revs at around 4,500 RPM but is quite violent, it can be heard in neutral and in gear. I have checked all exhaust mounts and the headers look tight as is the protection shield (not sure what its called but the vented black piece of metal attached to the exhaust itself).......does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what exhaust you have fitted but if you have a 4-1 collector it may be the pipe vibrating as these are just a push on fit.

If so, you can tell by putting a large screwdriver between the pipe to see if it stops. If it is this, remove silencer and pipes going into 4-1 and apply silicone then refit.
