Silent Blatter Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 Looking for some advice .... I have a 1993 1.4 K series and it has now reached 33k miles. Engine is still sounding sweet and all is running smoothly, however, I am very aware that k-series engines blow their head gaskets at 33k miles from what I have read? Should I replace the head gasket before it blows to protect valves etc or do I wait for it to go if it goes at all? Keep everything in working order (coolant system, fluid levels, leaks, thermostat etc etc ) and keep on driving! Mick Day Posted September 21, 2005 Share Posted September 21, 2005 Talking of cambelts it's wise to replace every 4 years................ & at the same time have a look at the water pump & yes you'll probably get seduced into some sort of upgrade eventually but don't forget the cambelt; if it breaks it causes far more damage than a HGF will cause.
