Andrew_Bailey
Does anyone have any experience of bonding CF cycle wings to the stays? I know that products such as Grip-Fill or windscreen sealant will work OK with glass fibre wings, but I have no experience at all working with carbon fibre. EFA
Bolt them on! They are too expensive. I've lost them, Peter C has lost them..... Andrew_Bailey
Thanks Arnie. That sounds like good advice. It would be seriously depressing to watch an expensive wing fluttering down into the path of following cars blush.gif. rynicolson
Arnie... why did yours fly off? and after how long? I've bonded mine with a grip fill type product... 6 months on it's still soft / strong but you've worried me! I haven't tracked the car this year as I was running in so haven't bounced across concrete much.... Tricks Y57 CDS "Mutley"

EFA
Mine flew off after around 18 months- 2 years. Strangely it flew off when going slowly having been blasting it moments before. Does this prove the cycle wing/ downforce theory??? It was crushed by the vehicle following......sad.gif Fat Arn The NOW PROVEN R500 Eaterid=red> See the Lotus Seven Club 4 Counties Area Website hereid=green>
Lawrence_Z
Yup! Tiger seal or any other pu adhesive and they'll stay on the wing stays even when tested to destruction ie they're Armco proof. bolts look so old fashioned... just like vx engines I suppose smile.gif Lawrence
NickB7
I've used Sikaflex on my wings on 2 cars and a friend used it on his R500 and no problem to date S31VEN
murph7355
Mine have been on for at least 18mths (bonded with Sikaflex or similar). Car used in all weathers, not cleaned all that often and plenty of miles/high speed work in that time. I'm asking for one to fly off on my way up North today, but I reckon you should be fine bonding them.
Miraz
I've bonded mine on too - but I've bonded a bracket to the wing, that is subsequently cable-tied to the stay. The bracket has a much larger surface area than the stay, so the bond should be pretty solid. I've also got a spare tube of tigerseal left over if you would like it...email me if you are interested.
