O/T MERC W123 1984 80,000 Miles

Following my enquiry, the owner has e.mailed me some info and photos and, from the history and pictures, it does look like a real gem.

However, I can't justify any more cars, so I wouldn't want to obstruct anyone else who may be interested.

I was tempted because my father-in-law had one from 1977 to 2003, when he died. Thinking it would be of limited value, we gave it to a friend and it is still going strong. I was amazed how well it drove - adequate performance, nice handling, smooth ride, and felt very safe. IMO, one of the last of the proper traditional Mercedes.

Would provide someone with a very nice winter 'tin top'

my father had one of these...

From memory I think it was an B plate I think? 230 TE estate in metallic blue

It had done 310000 miles :-) on the original gearbox.

it did have the bottom half of the engine replaced but in hindsight I think it could have gone a lot further before being changed.

Had great self leveling suspension and was enourmous inside.

Body finally gave in in the end to rust

check for a clunking gearbox when selecting gear.

great car though
