The Polisher
My rear brake pads are wearing a bit thin on my 1.8 Roadsport with 4 pot front callipers. They are the original Caterham 'blue' pads. Are these the best pads to use or are there better alternatives? Are they only available from Caterham? Dave H. Mad about S77ENS
Rob Walker
Depends on best for what? going shopping or hours thrashing around a track?
The Polisher
Good point Rob. These are to provide the best balance with the Caterham supplied AP pads on the front for track days and fast road use. Dave H. Mad about S77ENS
Stuart Faulds
If you were happy with the balance before, then I'd stick with the same pads - they're pretty cheap from Caterham.
Rob Walker
I would stick with the Caterham/ lucas stock pads that have the blue stripe on them or you may loose your brake balance.

stevefoster
Best balance I've found with 4 pots front and standard rears is Ferodo race front, Pagid rear. Ferodo race pads FRP218R (AP caliper CP2340D43) Pagid Standard Sierra rear caliper RS 14 Hants (north) / Berkshire club here Area meeting pics here My Racing here Edited by - stevefoster on 3 Aug 2005 14:40:
mav
Dave, I have the same set up brake wise as you. I'm still on whatever Caterham supplied in the AP's up front, but use Mintex M1144 in the rears. Part no is MDB1287M144 and are about £55 from Demon Tweeks. These have provided me with the best brake balance and performance for my application.
