K SERIES OIL PRESURE

MY 1.8K SHOWS 4 BAR ON START UP AND THEN DROPS TO 2.5 /2,IS THIS TOO LOW ?.

THE OIL IS MOBIL 1 ANY HELP

Sounds ok to me.I assume you are talking about idle pressures. Check through the archives. there are losts of postings on this subject

I can second Mav's opinion. If on the other hand this is at higher revs, something needs looking at.

My 1.6kss oil presuure seems to have dropped slowly over the last couple of years. It's now at the point whereby it reads 3.5bar cold idle, 2-2.5bar warm with revs, and only 1bar warm idle. The engine runs and sounds as good as ever. How do I know if the big ends are wearing? (assume this is the main reason for low pressure assuming the obvious things are o.k), what happens when it let goes?, should I be getting it in for a check over (how and what do you check?). If the bearings or intenrals need replacing, what sort of cost am i looking at for the engine rebuild and is it a good time to get into the upgrade business?

Lots of questions I know, will wait eagerly for the repsonses.

IME the OP sender used on K engines is complete pants. I have had several that show the pressure going down over time and some that do other things. Changing the sender has cured it every time for me.

Same experience with me. Try changing the sender if your really worried. Also my gauge starts at minus quite a bit with the ignition on and the engine stopped, so I suppose the readings start out pessimistic.
