How can I tell if my heated screen works ?

Idiot answer to question above.

 

I've just replaced my screen. And wired it in (to the correct wires I assume - they were the bullet ends with no associated other end).

 

Is it worth checking a wiring loom diagram - or are did the looms change so much that this is a waste of time ?

How can I tel it works without putting the hood on an trying it ?

 

My previous screen did not seem to do a great job - but I did have a naff battery / alternator at the time so it may not have been getting enought juice.

Best way is to get it misted up and switch on. If it's cold enough outside it should be easy enough to do this without putting the hood. Mind you, putting the hood on is only a 3min job max...

connect an ammeter in line with the screen and switch on! Look for a decent current of about 10ish amps for confirmation it's okay! I would advise you power up the screen with a short installed to bypass the ammeter and then remove the short after it has stabilized, becuase the surge current when you first turn it on might be more than your ammeter can take!
