hirondel
Can anyone kindly bring me up to speed with regard's to the law concerning the above. The last that I had heard was that a vehicle registered up until '72 now benefited from Tax Exemption. If this is true, what is the actual 'cut off' date? Regard's... murph7355
I thought they changed it so that any car over 25 years old was exempt, but looking at their site, it seems exemption only applies if the car was built before 01/01/1973...
Dobbo
If manufactured before the end of 1972 it will be tax free, however if registered in the first 2 weeks of 1973 it will be assumed to have been manufactured in 1972 and will qualify. I applied with chassis details from Lotus for my Elan (reg Jan73) written proof etc and was not asked for it. It is not a rolling 25 year date and only applies to pre 73 cars. mike ashurst
Yes that's correct. It applies to vehicles manufactured before 1973. In fact it was originally a rolling 25 year age group, but they got wise to how much cash they were missing out on. Strangely, there is talk that they might go back to the 25 year rule again, but I'll believe it when it happens. Mike
