Emerald Upgrade

Recommended Posts

I have also posted this on the sevens mailing list so apologies to those who have already seen it.

I have been running an Emerald 3D on my cross-flow with DCOE 45's for some years now, and very successful it has been. I have started to have trouble with the distributor which is showing a little wear.

What I am thinking of doing is going distributorless and retain the Emerald.

Is this possible ?

Does anyone do a system that is bolt on and compatible with the Emerald ?

With these systems, where is the preferred positioning of the trigger ?

Is anyone here using such a system currently ? if so what are your experiences?

Depending on the vintage of your ECU it should be possible to run from a crank trigger, you just need a sprocket with a fixed tooth pattern mounted on the front pulley and a crank sensor from a Zetec / Cosworth or similar, I have seen a bike chainwheel sprocket used for this. Talk to Karl at Emerald for further details. He will need to know the serial number of your M3D.
