Chelspeed
I'm after a cheap steering rack to rob the steering arms out of. Standard or quick rack, good or knackered (as long as the arms are straight), ideally wide track but narrow track is better than nothing. Anything really. Does anyone know if the steering arms are the same as any other rack? I know lots of other manufacturers use escort racks but Caterham racks are bespoke. But does that apply to just the casing or are the steering arms different too?
EFA
I threw two std racks into a skip at my local dump a couple of weeks ago. After several ad campaigns nobody seemed to want them. ashaughnessy
I have got what you want. I'll check over the weekend that everything is there. I had an old-style (non-quick, non-wide track) rack left over after I got a quick rack installed. I took it apart to see how it worked. I've still got the bits. As Arnie says, where are you? Chelspeed
> Where were you?????? Sorry Arnie - didn't know I wanted them until yesterday... > As Arnie says, where are you? I'm in cheltenham. I only need the steering arms for a project that should replace the nasty Caterham wide track extension pieces and the track rod ends with rose joints. Not sure exactly how or what until I sit down with the rose joint catalogue. ashaughnessy - if you have the steering arms and they're spare then I'd very much appreciate them. Can you email me off list graham.ford@chelspeed.demon.co.uk or phone me on 07989 494257 and we can sort out addresses etc. I will pay postage of course and bang nuke the thingy a donation. If that fails or it turns out that I need wide track arms to mate to the joint then knowing that Caterham do them is useful, thanks Lawrence_Z. EFA
Graham, I tried this and decided that the only way was to custome machine a taper bolt to fit the upright. Titan will sell you the track rod arms in wide rack length if you ask them nicely. Around £30/pair.
