For all those people who wanted to fit lightweight alloy rear calipers, it looks like Marlin have come up with a solution to the problem of how to fit a handbrake. News release here.

I'll be looking closely at the brake setup on my new MG ZT-T when I take delivery on Wednesday. Apparently the twin pot rear brakes are sourced from AP Racing and there must be a handbrake solution in there somewhere. If there is a neat transmission brake involved, it might be worth borrowing a few ideas.

This is the same as the rear brakes on an Isuzu Trooper, a bit overkill for a seven though ☹️

As for mechanical assistance I'm sure some one could design a remote set or levers which the cable pulled on and the levers in turn pulled the cables to the plates.
