JAMMED CLUTCH

Gaspipe

Recommended Posts

My clutch lever/fulcrum connecting the clutch cable to the release bearing has jammed. Tried moving it with a long lever from above - but it will not move.

The clutch biting point has been getting lower for a few months and has been taken up by cable adjustment.

However, returning from Pembrey at the weekend the clutch pedal made a vibration noise (loose cable vibrations sounds) and the pedal became floppy with no bite, as per broken clutch cable. However, cable OK - not broken, clutch not slipping, no release bearing squeal. I am confused ?

It sounds like either a release bearing collapse or some form of clutch mechanism collapse. Never had these symptoms before. Sounds like and engine and gearbox out job. Any ideas what the problem is ?

If you move the wiring and plumbing that are around the area and prise back the

rubber gaitor you can have a pretty good look in to the bellhousing and perhaps

see what is going on.

A compressed release bearing should be easy to see. A bend arm can be seen to.

Good luck. Hope you have the removable engine bay cross struts.. they may not

be essential but sure make it easy to get the lump out.
