Bobo W
Hints and tips in numpty language for fitting a new steering rack would be welcome. Moving from old mini style to 8% new rack. Are there any torque settings I need to be aware of ?
Paul McKenzie
Easy, as it only fits in one place in the clamps unlike the mini one. No torque setting that I know of, just do them up bearing in mind it's ally. Biggest problem is threading the new one into position as it's more bulky than the old..unless of course you take off a couple of hoses. Anyway a bit of patience and lateral thinking will get you there. Remember you need to reset tracking. Paul
I reply to every thread
Do the old style clamps fit the new style rack & if not do you have to order them seperately
charlie_pank
Cover anything even vaguely close to the appertures in masking tape before you start. You will save yourself some heartache.

Support Team Shaun_E Posted May 19, 2005 Support Team Share Posted May 19, 2005 Torque setting for steering rack clamps is 8lbft or 11 Nm and for steering column UJ is 15lbft or 20Nm. Yellow SL #
