AndrewD
Can anybody offer any advice? The gearbox on my SLR is the Caterham 6 speed. At Bentwaters on Saturday I was finding it more and more difficult to find a gear. Even with the engine turned off it is now quite difficult to push the lever forwards into 1st, 3rd and 5th, whilst a lot easier to push it backwards into 2nd, 4th and 6th (but pushing it back into neutral is not easy). Is there some sort of linkage which needs attention, or some other obvious problem? TIA Andrew Yellow SLR T777 XXX
EFA
Andrew, Sounds like a bent selector bronze linkage inside the box. There are new uprated linkages available from Phil at RRT. The old ones have a recognised design fault. Paul D Jones
Andrew Peter C had somthing simalar at Cadwell and has replaced the little black plasic thing under the gear leaver, no longer a Ford service part I think he got it fron Phil Stuwart. If you can tack the gear leaver out the black plastic thing can be pushed down and fished out with a long thin screwdriver if it is not this it sounds a lot more expensive. amosian
I've always had trouble engaging the gears of my 6spd when the engine is turned off. With the engine running, it's as sweet as a nut, though down changes into 2nd require a blip of the throttle (which isn't a bad thing).
