Ferrino
Out of interest, is it possible to swap my 3/8" wheel studs for the larger Ford type M12 studs? ie. are the splines that fit into the hub the same diameter, despite the different thread diameters? Bite me 😬
Joe 90
Sorry to say they are different. SEP field working, not spotted in 103,300 miles. Some photos on webshots, updated 25 Jan
Mr Locust
I fitted M12 x 1.5 Ford competition type wheel studs and open wheel nuts to my Locust all round. They replaced the 3/8" UNF Triumph Spitfire items (car was based on full Spitfire running gear). I seem to remember I had to separate the brake rotors from the front hubs due to fitting longer studs i.e. they don't go round corners. It may also take a bit of jiggling around the brake back plates on the rears for the same reason but it was easier to remove the adjuster or the cylinder on the Triumph brake and wiggle the stud through the hole rather than removing the hub casting from the half shaft. Ital axle may be different though. Definitely do-able. I did it! Ian Green and Silver Roadsport 😬
Ferrino
Thanks Ian - all 4 hubs (Ital rears and cast alloy fronts) are disassembled ATM, hence considering to replace them - will measure up..... Bite me 😬
Mr Locust
The key to it is that the 3/8" studs have a 1/2" shoulder with the 'spline' feature that grips the hole and stops it turning. So do the M12 ones.  Ian Green and Silver Roadsport 😬
