Area Representative Tin Man Posted October 27, 2001 Area Representative Share Posted October 27, 2001 Any advice on how to fit it. What`s the best way to cut the hole in the side skin? Can I get a template? what`s the best way to remove the old manifold as I had to fit it before installing the engine. Thank you
Mick Day
Search the archives cos there's plenty on this topic. No template available from Caterham when I bought therefore cut hole carefully; I used a Dremel. To remove the old (one piece) 4:1 manifold: disconnect battery, remove chassis strut, remove lambda probe, undo & remove all manifold studs, lift out manifold. I removed the water rail as well but may not be necessary. Then offer up each primary & trim the side skin as you go. Mick
Jason Plato
Tip - Shorten the manilfold studs by 10mm before you fit the new manifold - makes it easier to remove next time . I wish I had followed my own advice teeth.gif dave
Pierre Gillet
Does the chassis strut nest above the manifold tubes? I am asking this question because there is a photo on the CCC Oct. issue of a 4 2 1 superlite R exhaust, and I cannot see any chassis strut above the manifold tubes. Caterham told me that this exhaust will fit a LHD and I am concerned because there is very little room between the chassis strut and the steering shaft.
