Pierre Gillet
I have been very happy with my titanium 6,25 " Raceco exhaust for two years now. Still very quiet, so that I do not need to repack it. A small rattle however can be heard from the internals, from time to time. Is there an easy way to fix it ? Pierre

Pierre Gillet
OK, done. Some rock wool was missing. But now I have a small dent (bump) on the titanium shell. Do not know how it happened Pierre
metal mickey
Pierre, please do not use rock wool in your can as it is not up to spec and will result in poor performance of the system. The correct packing material is available and is relatively inexpensive - email me off forum and i'll send you some. Mike.
Pierre Gillet
Thank you very much Metal Mickey. In fact I have been using the material that was provided by AMMO together with the Raceco silencer. So, I figure that 'rock wool' is not the proper term. Could you tell me if I must try to do something on this small dent, or just do nothing ( road warrior scar ) here Cheers, Pierre
Pierre Gillet
Is replacing the titanium shell DIY by a new one an option ? Or a carbon sleeve such as the one RIF started to develop... Pierre
Normans_Ghost
Pierre, leave it as it is. Why spend money on a lightweight silencer then add weight (even if it is cf). A price of a new titanium sleeve is going to bring tears to your eyes. Pierre Gillet
Thanks Norman. I think I would agree with you. During the night I had the revelation that if I could rotate downwards the titanium shell by one 'screw', the larger dent would not be visible anymore. The welding line which is presently facing the ground would move upwards by one 'screw' but will not be very apparent along the body of the car. metal mickey
Pierre, you are quite right - the packing is not rockwool. Titanium tends to crease after it has had an impact or been deformed. A new sleeve could be supplied but if the system is working o.k its probably not cost effective for you. Mike.
Renny
The dent should not affect the performance of the silencer at all. Renny Thomson MSA Scrutineer (Nat A) My Website
Pierre Gillet
You are right. It does not . My car was one of the quieter on the pits straight at Le Bugatti track last week end. I understand now how I did it: I was holding tight the silencer between my knees while trying to remove the outlet cap with my hands. I thought it was a gentle way. Next time I shall be even more careful. Titanium is tough but must be handle with much care. I must say that Metal Mickey deserves even more my admiration now Pierre
Pierre Gillet
Would the stainless shell be more robust (resistance to dent) ? Is this option still availablle at Raceco ? Pierre
