Brake Pipe Flaring

jos

Recommended Posts

I can see there has been quite a bit of discussion about upgrading/replacing calipers and also brake fluids recently.

I'm at a little earlier stage than this and was hoping for any hints tips or guidance on brake pipe flaring.

Ive bought myself a draper tool kit which can produce single and double flares so I think Ive got the tools but need some advice please.

Ken, Ive just seen some of your earlier posts so I might bend your ear at The Gate tomorrow evening if youre there.

Only advice I can think of is to practise a few times on a bit of spare pipe to see what length proud of the clamp you need. The single flare is pretty easy but the double flare has a knack to it. Pretty important to get the former perpendicular to the pipe with the double flare.

Vinnie and myself gave it a go n gave up after 10min. So we did it the easy way...

cut the pipes to length and shaped.. went down to local garage n the guy there did them for me for 10€ whilst I waited (coffee and cake included) 😬
