CHip
My current runabout is a '99 (V reg) Rover 400 with a 1.6l engine. Is this engine a K series? If so, could I safely use some of the 'normal' seven methods for giving it a bit more kick (supersport upgrade, remapped ECU etc)? Frying Pan
Probably K-Series - only autos were Honda. See some pictures of the build here. 5000 miles completed!
Mike Bees
Yes it'll be a K-series, and yes you could Supersport it. Mike
Mr Locust
Ken Evans was advertising an EU2 kit on for sale You'll need to know eu2 or eu3. Ian Green and Silver Roadsport 😬
Myles
99 will almost certainly be EU2. 2000/2001 was (roughly) when the EU3s started to come in - easy to check - have you got a dizzy cap or not (for starters) - if yes, then you've got an EU2. WILL FLY
There wasa guy at Llandow last time I was there with a DVA'd K series in a rover 200/25/ZR, wen't like stink down the straight, but boy did he have problems with corners You'd be better dropping a tuned VX into a Nova Roy. See willfly.net for more info. If you don't spin you ain't trying Happiness is knowing you have just a tad too much power
CHip
It'll look great with the flared arches and flames down the side 😬 I'm actually looking at options for making it a better tow vehicle for my academy car next year, I'm worried it's a bit gutless at the moment. I don't particularly want to sell it (men creating emotianal attachments to cars, whatever next 🤔 ), so I am trying to get costing for increasing the power, fitting towing gear etc.
Mike Bees
Be better to swap the engine for a VVC (or at least a 1.8) if it's for towing. Mike
CHip
Well, that doesn't sound cheap, or particularly cost efficient, maybe I should trade the car in for something bigger (also removes the insurance headaches of having a non standard spec tin top)
