Fuel Pressure Regulator Options

Hi All,

Not directly a Sevens question, but the bare chassis looks a bit like a Seven !

I'm (still) putting a 2L Zetec into an old Lotus Elan +2 using bits supplied by Spyder. I've managed to overtighten and split the connections to the FSE adjustable fuel regulator that is supplied by Spyder with the TBs & ECU. Is there anything else I could use instead e.g. if I put my wellies on and rummage around in a local scrappy.

Should I stick with an adjustable one ?

Setup is as follows.

2L Zetec - Original Cams, Std engine.

Jenvey TB's

Emerald ECU

Injectors from a Vauxhall GTE (beige Bosch ones).

Thanks for any help and advice.

Niall.

No idea about your question but I *so* love the Spyder Zetec +2. I've been thinking about one as a daily driver. Have you any pics of your build?.. a web site perhaps?

Good luck. If nothing else I've bounce you back to the top. *thumbup*

To a great extent it depends what the original FPR was adjusted to - it was adjustable, so if you can find any stock regulator that gives the same pressure as the old one was set up for and you can plumb it in then it will be fine. Stating the bleedin' obvious perhaps... So I guess your real problem is knowing what the pressure the FSE FPR was adjusted to give.

There's some chassis build pics here http://community.webshots.com/user/niallf18

and a few pics of the car here http://community.webshots.com/user/niallf17

I've loads more pics and I'm actually about to try to start the engine... which was when I realised the fuel reg was the wrong way round, hence re-plumb and breakage :-(

Spyder bits are fairly easy, restoring a 30 year old car is the challenge.

Welcome to come have a look if you want, I'm in the garage most w/ends.

Thanks Mike,

I understand what you're saying. I don't know what the FSE is set to, I wondered if there's was a sort of ball park regulator for this kind of set-up as it's a fairly common thing. I've found out that GPR at Silverstone stock the same regulator's, so I try them on Monday, as well as Spyder. Looks like fire up is still a few days away.
