captain chaos
I've never attempted to replace the universal joints before and wish to do so. I've removed the propshaft and the circlips on each of the barrels so what do I do now? There must be a knack to this, a trick of the trade, so as to speak. I like to get advice before I weald the almighty hammer and see what gives!
captain chaos
PS: If anyone who reads this runs a Vx, dry sumped with hydraulic actuated clutch slave and a non-std clutch I could also do with a word. Thanks
Alex Wong1697456877
Give it to an expert. That's what I did. I wasn't going to take a risk with the propshaft. I've heard enough stories about what happens if they fail. Alex
Alex Wong1697456877
You need to talk to Alan (Tazio). I think Barbara has his number and Barbara's is in the mag (up until last issue anyway!) (WRT the clutch release, that is.) Edited by - Alex Wong on 15 Oct 2001 09:45:
STEVE GILBERT
Use a large Vice, and your complete collection of sockets plus assorted bits of pipe and large open ended spanners, gather all together and use 3 pairs of hands to support your -drift creation- and bingo.. Repeat the process twice when one of the needle rollers in the new Harley Slicer becomes displaced. Thats how I did it and what jolly fun it was too. Joking aside when you have done it once its not that hard, just be very careful not to damage/burr the softish yolks on the prop or it will be a bastard to get the caps on. If your not confident give up and take it somewhere
Fast Westie
Captain Mark your prop so that you put it back together the same way. I had to knock the cups out with a drift I turned up on the lathe The car in front is a Westfie1d wink.gif
