Other wise know as "Apollo tank".

The K series engine is prone to make the oil frothy. The anti-cav tank separates the oil and air, so that you get oil to the bearings rather than a mixture of oil and air.

I was too slow!

however

The anti-cav tank contains filters

There are no filters! the air and oil go in tangentially at the top which promotes a circular flow - the bubles of air are driven to the centre, which then rise to the top of the tank where there is a bleed line that bleeds air back into the cam cover. Good un aerated oil goes out at the bottom.

Interestingly we were discussing this very issue at a Carrotland meeting after Nifty's birthday outing to Snetterton. It seems that someone cut one in half and was surprised to find nothing but fresh air inside. Hell of a price of an old baked bean tin!

Black and stone chip and currently not going ☹️ but waiting to me made better courtesy of Dr. Dave Andrews.

Not long now hopefully?! *smile*
