Dirty Den Posted March 23, 2005 Share Posted March 23, 2005 It is a tank that plumbs into the oil system. When oil is thrashed about in the bottom of a wet sump, it gets air bubbles in it. Area Representative Richard Price Posted March 23, 2005 Area Representative Share Posted March 23, 2005 I was too slow! however The anti-cav tank contains filters There are no filters! the air and oil go in tangentially at the top which promotes a circular flow - the bubles of air are driven to the centre, which then rise to the top of the tank where there is a bleed line that bleeds air back into the cam cover. Its fiddly but not too difficult to fit so long as you take your time. There are lots of articles on blatchat about fitting it which are worth reading. I stand corrected, but I'm ignorant because I have a dry sump 😬 - I always assumed there was some kind of filter or gauze in the tank. It seems that someone cut one in half and was surprised to find nothing but fresh air inside. Hell of a price of an old baked bean tin!
