Andrew Dent
Has anyone experienced their Superlight, or K series not wanting to start after a long run. The symtoms seem to be ramdon loss of power to the ignition circuit. The immobiliser is not switched on, and when the ignition is turned, it is almost like having a flat battery. Leave the car for several minutes, operate the immobiliser a few times, and vroom, everything works again. Any vieews or experiences of this, and any cures. Thanks Andrew Dent
Ian Noble
Yes Andrew, I'm afraid your starter may be getting cooked by the exhaust manifold. If this is the case you will have to get a new one (£150- £170). However, get the geared one used for race engines as the solonoid is underneath away from the down pipes. You could try shielding the current one with a heat wrap (Demon Tweeks) but it may be too late. I had 3 on my '96 Superlight. The last one I shielded.
