metal mickey
I want to fit a 12volt socket to the car, either in the dash or underneath it for charging phones etc while touring. Ideally I want one with a waterproof cover but can't find one - any ideas where these can be found? Thanks, Mike.
knowley
Maplin; not off the shelf in my local store, they had them out the back were you get wire cut to size etc. I think it's described as a panel mounted socket. 7 only day @ Mallory - 06/08/05 R300 Register My R300

oldbutnotslow
OY! and whats wrong with caravaners???!!! Maplins for the socket with cover and a plastic hobby box 2 pin male socket and 2 pin female socket, a blade fuse block and wire directly to the battery. Gives you a constant live feed that can be isolated for track days. Velcro the box just behind the gear lever. Total cost about £10 Pics available should you wish Grant Black and stone chip and currently not going but getting better curtsey of Dr. Dave ☹️ here
RWHomer
very simple to fit standard cigar lighter socket in a dry position inside the vertical bulkhead next to the fuse box in passenger side footwell. Easy to wire direct to battery but do install an in-line fuse. Handy for mobile phone charging, vacuum cleaners, battery charging etc
James Tricker
oh and if you have problems with the cheap cigar lighter type plugs on any existing accessories (eg not fitting properly) - then Maplin's sell some that will fit. Grim Reaper
Ford fit 12V outlet sockets to their Connect vans, try a dealer for one as a spare, they have either a cover attached by a thin plastic strip or a loose (though quite secure and more aesthetically pleasing) plug. I.Mupferit
I used one from a caravan shop as well (not that I would normally go into one of these places you understand 😬) It was less than a fiver, has a rubber cap and I have mounted it, quite unobtrusively, in the knee trim panel on the passenger side Brent 2.3 DURATEC SV. In the final week of gestation. SVA booked. 😬
