On a Monday morning I would miss the M6 unless before 5.30 in the AM

Would suggest go up the m1 to the A50,(Donnington services)

Blast across to Stoke on A50

then A500 onto M6 then up to Chester and accross

Delbert... go to the back of the queue!

Its good friday morning he is talking about I assume???

I'd do M1-M6 Toll, then trundle along the dual carriagewayon the top.

Though there is not a lot in it to take the M1-M6 (not toll), M54 then A5. This route is more fun if your in the SeVen, but also more tiring...

Good Friday........going to Mav`s track day. Only there to spectate as I`ll be in the tintop. I was aiming to get up to Anglesey for around lunchtime, watch the guys hoon around in the afternoon for a while then head north for the ferry home at midnight

in that case Simon, its flip a coin time.

The A5 route is slightly short, more scenic and has some great bends in it. BUT you might get stuck behind a pleb-shed (caravan) that you struggle to overtake in the tintop.

The m-way/dual carraigeway route is dull but realiable.... Personally I've always done the A5 route no matter what car I'm in....

I`ve done the A5 route a number of times on the way to Holyhead and as you say it`s a great drive but I have also got stuck behind caravans and as it`s easter weekend I`m sure they will be out in force.

Just wanted to know if the alternative route was considerably quicker or if there isn`t much in it. If they are similar I`ll take the scenic route........after all caravans are there to be overtaken......which will make the drive more interesting 😬
