Badger Bill
Went there, went up the nose to the shoulder, then onto the top...(took about an hour for all three of us). Shat myself and got the fcuk down. Declined the kind offer of eagles’ nest ridge direct as a way out and went up hell gate scree instead. Got to the top after a not inconsiderable effort then spent the next 3/4 of an hour waiting in a perfect temperature inversion whilst the other two to emerged from a grim slimey chimney on the shoulder of the napes before scrambling up westmorland crag to watch the sun go down from the top of Gable. That was at 6:30ish pm and we got back to the car in the dark at about gone 8:30ish pm at having taken in Green Gable and the run down into the Honister Pass quarry. A swift half in The Bridge at Borrowdale and then we set off for home Best day out in a long while. It's great how much fun can you have in the sun on good rock with mates. BB BTW, Napes was bad enough for not one of the passers by even tried to thread the needle the whole time that we were there!!!
