MJS
I opted not to have a heater in my kit, but am now slightly confused as to the 'proper' way to fit the ali blanking plate supplied. It appears that Caterham do not intend you to use the four rivnuts already in place (presumably for securing the heater) as they have kindly drilled approx 15 holes into the plate (although no matching holes in the bulkhead) to accept either rivets or self tappers. Am I correct in assuming this? I would like to fit the plate so that it's easily removed should I need access / a heater in the future. I'm tempted to just drill it to accept fixings into the rivnuts as this seems to be the most logical. I'm also wondering if that part of the engine bay sees much 'weather', ie do I need to use silicon sealant, or will a strip of foam suffice to take up any gaps? Cheers, Matt. Jason Plato
MJS - The 4 rivnuts do the job with a strip of foam as a seal . I removed my heater last year ....... now its October and I wish I had'nt . dave
AL Wain
same solution , used the four riv nuts and foam . Also 2 small self tappers in the front edge as that would be the most likely place for water to get past. ALan Wain OO51 VEN on the road at last!
