stevefoster
I had a rear 205 60 13 021R puncture last night at 70 on the A1(M). The sidewalls being so stiff showed noticeble sign of defaltion until the tread overheated and started to give thankfully it held together until I was going pretty slowly. The RAC failed me completely! Inspite of their assurances they would recover me with no spare when I took out the cover (car not manufactured to carry one), after 3 hours of waiting Paul Thompson (passing fellow Cadwell trackdayer) recoved my car and let me drive his car home. We live 0.5 hours away from each other and I returned his car and picked mine up in this mornings monsoon! Thankyou Paul!

stevefoster
I found a self tapper in the tread! That was the cause.
Jason Plato
I know it would'nt have made any difference in this incident , but I carry a can of tyre weld , in the hope that this would get me home or to civilisation in case of a puncture . I would also reccomend Britania Rescue - cheap rates and rapid call out , often less than 45 mins as they use independant rescue companies . dave
stevefoster
Got the tyre weld... I measured the gash in the side wall... 12" long...
Miraz
If you leave the tyre-weld in the can then it might just block that hole! Miraz
stevefoster
A tough sort of inner tube pumped up might have done for while...
