52mm Throttle Body for a K series

Recommended Posts

My mate Pete is in Iraq right now doing his duty and upon his return I want to be able to fit a 52mm throttle body to his 1.6k series Caterham.

So any of you got one in decent nick? Looking for someone who has upgraded to DTH throttle bodies I guess.

I got one myself last year for £50 so thats what I am expecting to pay.

thanks from Pete and thanks from me. *thumbup* *thumbup* *thumbup* 😬

They tend to go for almost double that on e-bay and at breakers... ...I think you must have been quite lucky.

New price is now approx. £146.

I do have one (modified to improve the flow), but I can't let it go until the new engine is running properly.

Wow double that. OK, Myles if you can me (and Pete) in mind when your engine is running sweetly that would be cool.

Hopefully mind you something will come along.

Guess I was mighty lucky huh!? *eek* 😬

It's not ideal by any means.

You really ought to stick-out for a proper 52mm jobby. I have seen them go for £80ish on e-bay - but most seem to crack the ton.

Aside from it being an old, old unit, the one on ebay has got a load of redundant mechanical rubbish tacked on the side - which you can't get rid of (early version of the IACV, AFAIK).

A 52 is big-enough for 160 on a 1.8 - anything larger will either go beyond the bounds of what the standard ECU can reasonably cope with - or at the very least will make low-speed driving (town/car-park speed) a rather jumpy experience.

*wink* I am after just the throttle body unit so I can fit it to my mate Pete's 1.6 K series. *thumbup*

He's PeeWee on here but whilst doing his bit for queen and country I am trying to sort this out.

Private mail to you on its way. *thumbup*

Timbo, you there? I want to buy just the throttle body from you - I have another option waiting but I am holding off for you.

Please let me know if we have a deal £50 plus postage to the UK.

Sorry for not replying, have been up to my eyes. I wasn't ignoring you..... just had little or no time.

Firstly i want to check the TB is correct as per your requirements. Its in the garage, all wrapped up in plastic with the aluminium plenum sinse Oct last year. I've a load of old VVC stuff.. ECU's, injectors etc, I must post for sale soon.

I'll give you a bell tonight re. price.

Timbo.
