John_Salmon
After a motorway run of 120 miles the oil level on the dipstick dropped from max to just above min and then stabalised. I am running a 2.0 vx injected. After fitting a catch tank the oil mists into and out of the tank (messy). Vauxhall tell me that overfilling the sump as you must with the Caterham wet sump will cause a problem. Does anyone else have this problem and a solution. kenny.
John, The only time when I had anything like this was when I mounted catch tank on chassis rail under carbs. I noticed that after a decent hard drive, or an hour on track I'd have a fair amount of oil in tank. I then utilised a spare washer bottle and mounted it where washer bottle usually goes for track days, believing that maybe oil was being syphoned with tank mounted below. Bottle now never gets oil in......even after a good thrashing....I also put holes on top of bottle to let it breath. As for the overfill....I reckon that 5 or 6mm over max. line is enough.
