BigYin Posted March 5, 2005 Share Posted March 5, 2005 At last! The big HP Pavillion went all moody on me 4 weeks ago. First the processor blew up, so new processor and mother board. Then the HP OEM vesion of XP wouldn't run on the AOpen board, so new kosher version of XP pro purchased. Needed all new drivers for the new Motherboard. Still crashes. Many diagnostice later find intermittent fault in memory stick (bad news as I've got 1Gb). Replace memory. Find that dual IDE discs then limit performance, so fit BIG serial disc. Buy Maxtor external disc to back it up. Doesn't work. Send it back. Get replacement. Then find that HP had wired up USB ports in non-standard fashion. Rewire ports. Re-install all software. WooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo! It works Not only works but goes like stink 😬 Mrs BY worried that I can now post more nonsense faster and that this upgrade obsession might spread to that "Silly Little Car". Oh and it's big enough for 1xSV, 5xscrap chest freezers to go to the tip in Burton or 6 Mothers-in-Law's coffins to go to Alrewas (which is the main market round here at the mo) or a small Westfield...............
