mightymetros
Having moved house, and not now having a garage, the dining room is looking rather cluttered, so i have to sell some bits, so.... 1800 standard complete bottom end. Was taken from a lotus elise that i saw running. A friend of mine had the head for his car, as i was planning on a steel bottom end, but it never materialised. Elise clock had 11,000 miles on it. £200 Sacha
mikevernontalktalk.net
I'm interested, but can somebody tell me whether the head from my 1400 SS is a straight replacement? Are the valve sizes smaller than on the 1800 head and what would be the compression ratio?
Allen Payne
Just about to do the same thing. The head is a straight replacement and the valves are the same size. Some is needed removing metal so that the starter motor fits and the crank needs a spigot bearing
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 5, 2005 Leadership Team Share Posted March 5, 2005 Mike YHM. All later heads are the same - oddly the 1800s weren't given bigger valves until the VVC However, you should use a high port rather than low port head (low port fitted to early 1400s) check here Stu.
