John Gaines
My speedo stopped workink after about 5 miles of use. When I took out the 90 degree drive the small "cable" part that goes into the gearbox has broken. I have checked the speedo which works ok when I connect my electric drill to the speedo cable. The angle drive is also ok in terms of movement. Has anyone had similar problems? Is there a better type of cable? or do you have to contact caterham for one? Regards John. Mick Day
"the small "cable" part " can be purchased from Caterham for a few bob or maybe your local Ford dealer will have one.
Nigel Riches
Don't think a Ford parts place will carry this bit, as for as Iknow it's more likely to be a VW part, as the angle drive is a modified VDO speedo drive, or that's how it is for my installation, knowing Caterham there have been several changes since 1995, I believe the part in question is a QUILL drive, or as has been pointed out get the thing from Caterham. 1982. 5 speed, clamshells.
