millsn
When you fit linear springs to a car previously fitted with the progressive spring, do you use the old style central dedion tube holes to pick up on or do you get a long spring and use the lower ones still? Mike Bees
I'd suggest using the same mounting point. If you use the through-hole then for the same ride height the damper will be more compressed, thus more likely to hit the bumpstop - if you see what I mean. millsn
I assume there is a standard swap in terms of spring length. Do you know what that length is? Nigel Mills - 2.0 Zetec carbs
Mike Bees
The length you need depends on the stiffness of the spring you're going to use. Mike
stevefoster
Mr Millsn. Did you try fitting your existing springs / dampers with the collars suitably wound down and bolted to the middle of the tube hole?
millsn
I have to use the lower mount as the damprs are too long for the higher one. (otherwise the tube fouls the chassis. Mike- if I fit 170lb spring, do you know what length it should be? Nigel Mills - 2.0 Zetec carbs
Mike Bees
My 170lb rears are 12" (source from DT, 17.82+vat each) but are marginally short, I have the adjusters right at the top of their travel. I guess 13" springs would be ideal (DT list 12" and 14" in the cheapie Suplex variety). Mike
