Thats my weekend buggered then

Not sure, the pedal went solid. Pushed harder and "bent" the stop to get some sort of clutch. Then couldn't get it into gear. Then not too bad. All this in a huge traffic jam. Took me an hour to do 5 minutes. I've now re-adjusted the stop, a good 1/4" further down. The crb is screetching laike a banshee.

I got the crb from a bearing supplier and it feels like it's collapsed. I'm getting a new pressure plate, just in case. I've got 2 spare centre plates. I've got a spare (used) crb but will probably get another.

I'll get the engine out on Friday, problem is I've got Blue Light stuff to do on Friday and, hopefully, pick up the new Raceco silencer. Means I probably wont start till lunchtime, so may not get it finished that night.

I've found the problem and another mystery (assuming I'm right)

When we first did the engine we (Roger King) fitted a Super Clutch (QuarterMaster). The crb is 50mm centre on the thrust area. That clutch was discarded for an AP 7.25" twin plate (same spec). The same crb has been kept.

The AP crb is 54mm centre.

So, maybe that's the reason for failure.

If so how come it's given 7000+ miles trouble free use?

The CRB was new at christmas. About 600 miles. Preload is not a problem with co-axial hydraulics. I think the failure was heavy use in short period of time when stuck in BIG traffic marmalade.

As for HM, can I have this in writing.
