Official Authorised excuses 2005

Jason Plato

Recommended Posts

Drivers , its about time we made a formal list of excuses for easy reference in the event of a less than satisfactory result . This could then be displayed in the paddock and drivers can then select as required .

My starter ........

I'm running with 20 l of fuel on board

My ACB24's are 6 months old

I have a passenger seat fitted

I havent tuned my new £2000 dampers yet

😬

Please note - the above doesnt mean I have new dampers or that I will be using a passenger seat or running A24's *wink*

not that I would use any of them but

it was wetter on my run

it was my first run at this venue

I thought the 2nd corner was a flat out right, when it was really a hairpin left

being an ealry class runer put me at a disadvantage

I forgot the (tools, rags, cables etc) in my boot

I didn't want to embarass the olf folks (saga sevens) too much

my car was too pink and the reflection from the bonnet blinded me on my start

I didn't have a 1800K supersport K 😬

I didn't have an all steel xflow 😬

I didn't have an all steel twink 😬

or the usual

I was crap 😳

Bu88er forgot that one..... still it does drop off the power a lot exiting the bottom corner at Curborough and on one bend at Cadwell Park think you should read

From a novice perspective.

1) the car in front was faster 😬

2) I did not realise a sprint involved corners

3) My timing strut failed to work *eek*

4) The start Marshal ate 3 shredded wheat for breakfast & did not let go of my Superlight *cool*

5) TBN

Looking forward to the 1st sprint of my life - see you at Llandow where I will loose my cherry *thumbup* Feeling like a 12 year old again 😬

*thumbup* GrannY OrB TuneR *thumbup*

😳 Tweaker Of Fine Granny Orbs ! 😳

*biggrin* Superlight No: 170 *biggrin*

Nobody told me its only a 105 db limit

It only rained on my lap... *eek*

I only made that magnificent spin so......... that I could get on the clubs 2005 DVD

My 6 point crutch strap is too tight on breaking *eek*.... they might be ok for the little lads but....

The 20 Bacon and brie butties reduced my power to weight ratio ..... even in group 6 😬

OK.... SO.... its 2 laps at Curborough.

Decent excuses should blame external factors totally beyond one's own control. Ideally, highly changeable things that may not effect the people running either side of you *wink*.

Excuses like, "I missed a gear", "I chose the wrong tyres", or "it's my first time here" are not good excuses IMO as they are admissions that you messed up or didn't perform rather than excuses to put the blame on someone/something else. I don't like blaming a poor drive on mechanical problems as it just tempts fate.

To be really convincing excuses you need to convince yourself they were actually true 😳

Following these basic excuse guidelines, here's some of mine from last year:

"It was still wet on my run" (Curborough2)

"Dodgy fuel, couldn't find an Optimax garage on the way" (Llandow)

"The car before me put stones/grass over my line" (Longcross)

"The timing gear's not working properly" (Harewood)

I wonder what I'll come up with this year......

Poised over a bench with a nibbler and ally sheet.....

Hi Dave

I got food poisoning from the burger van lunchtime - thats why my timed runs are slower

Think your logic is wrong..... that could get you VERY URGENTLY back to the start 😬

Am I allowed my Lydden excuse "my throttle stuck full on" or can that only be used if I set a stunningly fast time *confused*

In my locker for the year I also have:

" No widetrack you see..."

"If only I had a LSD"

"The drum brakes mean I lose so much under braking"

I look forward to using these with you all soon 😬

Steve
