kandyman
Anyone know of a limit? I'm considering running one on my Zetec which might make up to 210 hp at some point, will this kill the Quaife ATB? I won't go kerb hopping, mostly fast-ish alpine touring here. -Marin Edited by - kandyman on 1 Feb 2005 16:34:

old captain slow
Going from a position of very little knowledge, I believe the Quaiffe is less prone to leading to mechanical failure on kerb hopping than the plate type as it needs some torque to be generated by the "slipping" wheel in order to work. Mike Bees
But if you do unload a wheel such that it spins in the air then a big shock load is put through the transmission when it re-lands and regains traction. This is given as a reason for Suretrak-equipped race cars breaking their gearboxes when kerb-hopping (one reason why all the race cars switched back to a plate-type). Mike Biddle
The quaife unit will handle that power no problem. I've had one in my 225HP car for 7 years. No probs yet.
