Rev limiter/shift light

1400ss to 1800ss upgrade but retaining original distributor/cams/ECU/flywheel trigger pattern. I wish to lower the rev limit/shift light to suit the 1800. I understand the 'non reprogrammable' nature of the Rover ECU , but is there anybody out there who is clever and has successfully hacked one of these, or does this sort of activity leave one with a dead ECU?

Will eventually go down the path of a reprogrammable ECU/other engine upgrades in about 2 years, so until then if the Rover ECU is 'tamperproof', is my short term solution only to buy an after market limiter/shift combination,e.g. Omex speed system, or separate limiters and shift lights from Armtech or Aces? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks

Malcolm,

I don't think you'll find anyone to hack into the MEMS.

Why do you wish to change the rev limit??

I had a look at the "Omex Shift Light Sequential" at the autosport show - it looks quite good and cheaper than the "aces sureshift" benchmark.

I like the idea of the sequential lamp rather than a single lamp.

Being tight, I'm experimenting with a home made setup at the moment!
