Luggage Rack

Yes I know this post will make a lot of you groan *smile*

But I do use my 7 to go on holiday in and have (unsurprisingly!!) a stowage issue!

I have placed a wanted ad in the appropriate section - however just wondered how large these Luggage Racks are and what you can actually get on them?

Go on - do your worst 😬

The Caterham luggage rack can take a bag that's about 20 inches wide and a foot tall comfortably. Your best off using a soft sided bag and watch the weight as the pounding that the car takes will make the rack dig into the paintwork of the spare wheel carrier if you're not careful.

I try and follow the "Bare" idea, but Mrs Paulo doesn't quite have the same idea.

I've got one of Jill Judds Boot Bags and thats enough, if you're really pushed for space you've got too much clobber, try edible underwear 😬 😬

I don't know what you wimps are worried about. My wife & I have done many Le-Septs without carrying extra bags; it all goes in the boot.

2 helmets, left & right extremities of the boot, stuffed with underwear. Between the 2 helmets fits a floppy bag with all our clothes. Behind this is the jack bag with a few addional tools. Travel light, Rohan or equivalent is good & make sure it can be washed & dried overnight. We all take too much on holiday so travelling in a 7 reduces it to essentials.

Stuart Golding, a fellow member of the the 7 club can can supply a bag which fits in the spare wheel

making an storage space, I have one and have found it most useful, 'specially as the original lugggage rack was loaded with a chilly bin full of beer ! ! ! !

My luggage rack has carried tents, sleeping bags, crates of brown ale, et al, even been known to carry some clothing bags, (shock, horror), if you anchor it really tight to the spare wheel, and the spare wheel tight to the car, then common sense (remember common sense, aaaahhhh those where the days), should see you OK, works for me, your mileage may vary, as they say, in text lingo. Regards Nigel.
