Slipper man
I have just bought an AC, and when the engine is running and the lights are on, all the lights have a slight 'flicker' that has a similar frequency to the engine revs. This affects all the lights - headlights, interior, instruments, etc. presumably it is some kind of a problem with the voltage regulator or something. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Normans_Ghost
Sorry to be dim but do you mean an AC car? If so and it's old and has a dynamo then it will do that. Norman Verona, 1989 BDR 220bhp, Mem No 2166, the full story here

Slipper man
It is actually a 2001 AC Ace, with a Ford Mustang engine (4.6, 32 valve) engine if that era. Very nice car, but this problem is a bit irritating
Alex Wong1697456877
Hi Keith, Now there's a car that's appropriate to drive with your slippers on! The modern ACE must be rare as hen's teeth. A less vulgar alternative to a TVR perhaps? Has the 11 gone? Alex Edited by - Alex Wong on 28 Jan 2005 09:45:
Sheds Moderator
Coo, nice car. I'd start with a run round the alternator circuit with a multimeter. Assuming this all checked out OK then it seems like you need a trip to an auto elec who can check the thing in detail. It's strange though, thinking about it a big lead acid battery would surely damp any voltage flutter. You sure it's not just the massive throbbing V8 shaking the filaments? 😬
Slipper man
No Alex - this is the car that does NOT need slippers! It is rare though. They only made two of these 4.6 cars (which are smoooothh by the way ) and one of those was written off. It is a very nice, and quite civilised car. Which is more than can be said for the R500!! Chris W
ECK It just might be dirty brushes on the alternator causing an intermittent contact that varies with engine speed. Chris 2003 1.8K SV 140hp see it here
