TomB
Just out of curiosity, could a VVC or VHPD head be fitted to a 1.4k? Â More importantly, would it work or be of any benefit? Â
mightymetros
I wouldnt really think you would benifit too much from a vvc head or vhpd head. Also i think the valves are too big and would hit the piston tops IIRC. I had a 1400 stock engine with piper 270 cams, throttle bodies and an emerald and it made 127bhp. Dave Walker reckoned that if it had a ported standard size head it should have seen 140bhp. Any more than that and it would be cheaper to convert to a 1600 or 1800 IMHOÂ sacha
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 24, 2005 Leadership Team Share Posted January 24, 2005 You would need to assess whether the spread of the valves is too great for the small bore, and also whether there would be piston/valve contact issues. The "eyebrow" recesses on the piston crowns may not be great enough for the bigger valves in the vhpd/vvc head.  Anyway, stop messing about and drop an 1800 in  Stu. TomB
I was just wondering after a conversation in the pub. Is Malcom's engine running yet?
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 24, 2005 Leadership Team Share Posted January 24, 2005 Going into the weekend, he was up to the rape and debauchery stage on his gearbox input shaft 😬 Awaiting his news on wednesday  Stu.
Allen Payne
I was told that the bigger valves will hit the cylinder walls.
Englishmaninwales
Tom, Stu The gearbox input shaft will need alot of Viagra if it ever wants to be the same again, as it is quite a bit shorter now. What a lot of hot filings. 😬 Malcolm
