Why do I love these cars

They are just great! I can't wait 'till I have some spare wedge to afford the petrol again 😳 😬 At 22mpg average, it wasn't not funny the last time I owned one... ☹️

Yet another modern classic to add to my list (that already includes Volvo 480's and Austin Ambassadors 😳)

Er, Bill, I really don't know.

I've never really "got" Saabs. As new cars they seem to fill a market niche for people who think Volvos are too pedestrian, Mercs too bourgeois and BMWs too commonplace without being quite good enough.

Good 2nd hand buys, I'll admit, from a utilitarian perspective, but I can't see why anyone would get emotionally attached to a Saab. The reason they're good 2nd hand buys is because they're all bought by urban architects in collarless shirts, fancy shoes and no socks who then go everywhere on public transport or taxi so as not to be seen driving anywhere.

I'd never buy a car from a man who is not wearing socks. Surefire sign of moral turpitude.

Sorry.

You need help. 😬

It is the T16 though, and the leather is wanted to upgrade old 900's across the country, so that isn't a surprise. First things first, perhaps one of these here for £6k, and I still have to sort myself out with a 1.8VVC K-series rubber-bumpered midget, and a historic rally prep'd SAAB 94... When am I ever going to find the time 😳 *confused* 😬

I had a Saab 90 as a company car some years ago - I HATED it. I had to read the manual *eek* before I could get the ignition key out (it insisted being in reverse before letting go of it) and the only connection to Saab aeronautical engineering I ever found was that it seemed to steer in three dimensions *eek* *eek* *eek*

Mind you, my Seven's doing something similarly strange ATM *thumbdown*
