But - has anybody got the 'Y' brace used in '01-'03-spec Academy cars - the one that goes from the passengers' shoulder mount down to the front of the tranny tunnel and also to the passenger-side roll-cage sill-mount??? It just occurred to me that - if I go for a lowered-floor and have to chop the diagonal out from under the drivers' seat, it might be a good idea to stiffen-up elsewhere. GTD Posted January 20, 2005 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Myles - have you got the honeycomb floor under the drivers seat? Under the passenger? You could add a little stiffness by wedging or even rivetting it in? They are a bit of a fiddle to get in and out to be honest - the bolt through in front of the gear lever is a right pain to wriggle in! Can't remember if you took the full cage off? ISTR you were going to sell me the passenger-side honeycomb, but I never made it down to GW last year... I've got driver-side honeycomb - but the point is that if I go to a lowered-floor, that'll be ditched. I'm planning to keep the old-style SIB (and pass the under-floor bit through the side of the LF) - so I've probably got fairly-good stiffness anyway. And no - no full-cage. The previous owner took it off to pay for an FIA bar and a couple of other bits. Regds. Project Scope-Creep is underway...
